Born and raised in Northern Ohio. Have done square dancing and C/W since childhood while showing horses for over 26 years. Began Ballroom dancing as an undergrad at Ohio State in '69 and have been teaching Ballroom, Latin, C/W and Swing since '74; originally with Fred Astaire Dance Studios and as an independent contractor since 1975. Danced both Ballroom and Latin in the first Gay Games DanceSport competition of Gay Games Amsterdam, '98 with a partner of two days from South Africa that Equality dancE of the Netherlands found at the last minute . We danced level B in International Latin and made it to the semi-finals with a limited 2 days or rehearsal. In International Standard danced level A (What were we thinking?!) and had a ball. Did not move up since he was only trained in American style (and heel turns are difficult to fake). Gay Games is a life-changing, fun-filled experience and if anyone has the chance to go, you really must take it. Teaching & competing pro-am for decades.
